Just saw this on devart, and I must say even without the description, it really conveys that depth you wrote about. The composition is really quite nice. Perhaps the cathedral/Church could be a little stronger in it's silhouette. This might help create a heavier juxtaposition between the shanty town and the 'highborne' folk of the cathedral/church.
